How old are the first teeth?

On average, the first milk tooth appears around the age of 6 months, but it is estimated that it can occur between 3 months and 1 year. Most of the time, teeth erupt in a specific order.

First two incisors in the middle of the gum lower, then the upper four, followed by the two lower lateral incisors. Around the age of 1, it is the first molars that point the tip of their nose, followed by the canines around two years of age. At the back of the pack, it is the last molars that take place in the back of the mouth.

Ultimately, between 2 and a half and 3 years old, babies can crunch the life to the fullest thanks to its 20 milk teeth.

At what age should you brush your baby's teeth?

To clean baby's teeth and prevent the appearance of cavities, no need to use a toothbrush before the child is 1 year old. For the dental hygiene of toddlers, prefer a damp compress gently passed around the tooth after each meal.

But when do you know it's time to go to toothbrush ? Quite simply when baby is able to keep the mouth open wide enough and long enough for brushing.

However, it is not advisable to use toothpaste before the age of 3 years. Indeed, these contain fluoride and very young children tend to swallow a lot when brushing. To prepare your child to manage his dental hygiene independently, it is essential to get him used to brushing his teeth with the right gesture (circular movements), for a sufficient time and after each meal, starting from younger age. The ideal is to make brushing his teeth a fun moment that he shares with you, for example by encouraging him to mimic your gestures.
