Allergies in children, how to detect them?

The results of a survey on the habits of French people were published on the occasion of French Allergy Day. With more than 1,000 people questioned, it illustrates the problem of allergies in our daily lives... But also in that of children!

The conclusion is worrying: while more than 1 in 4 French people are affected by an allergy, very few parents are properly informed about the risks. incurred by their children. They do not really understand the seriousness of the problem, even though it is estimated that by 2050, 50% of the world's population will be affected!

At Rêves de libellule, we manufacture our furniture with raw materials "without toxic products"!

Jocelyne Just, pediatric pulmonologist-allergologist and head of department at the Trousseau Hospital in Paris, explains: “In children, allergies are more serious and more frequent today. It is therefore unfortunate that the French are so little informed on the subject! Moreover, the figures speak for themselves:

  1. 64% of French people are not aware that an allergy can occur at any age
  2. 87% of them are unaware that the diagnosis can be made in the first months of the child li>

And that's where the problem lies: people with allergies – and especially children! – are generally diagnosed up to 7 years late! A delay that often causes aggravations, sometimes harmless but also sometimes very restrictive for the patient.

Asthma & Allergies association

has released a series of diagrams describing – among other things – the path that simple eczema can lead to in babies:

And as the director of the association, Christine Rolland, reminds us,

"It is intolerable in 2018 to leave young children in a situation of therapeutic abandonment
while screening, prevention solutions - such as eviction - and treatments exist".

As a reminder, two conditions are necessary to trigger an allergy: genetic predisposition and exposure to the allergen. And as defined by the National Institute of Health and Medical Researchl (Insern): "Allergy is a disorder of the immune system which corresponds to a loss tolerance towards substances that are a priori harmless: allergens. If the number of allergic people seems to have increased considerably for several decades, there are now effective solutions for their care, whether it is drug treatment or desensitization strategy. »
